it’s that genuine connection with staff, facility and experience that makes the whole stay and self feel WHOLE again 🤌🏻✨ it’s the intentional designs and care that a hotel can give you this getaway, holistic feeling. In fact having someone who is in touch with the present and able to guide you into a genuine retreat experience play such a big part in well being hospitality 🧘♀️ Also how fun to learn a new term “eudaimonia” - truly the philosophy of hospitality girl, what a fun read this was 🤓
Exactly Nudee! And it’s something that can’t be faked or replicated really. You can tell when someone’s presence is genuine vs forced 🥸 and I’m happy to introduce you to eudaimonia and I love having you here friend
Emma - I genuinely look forward to reading through the EHL report and would love to connect further on this topic. The future of hospitality is psychological welfare of our employees and our guests!
I’m so looking forward to hearing your thoughts Emily! And yes we should definitely have many many conversations on this, there can actually never be too many when it comes to this topic!
Great article Emma ❤️ I’m glad that your EHL piece recognized that well-being of hospitality workers is essential for the wellbeing of the customers. This is true in any industry working directly with people, whether it is customers or for example patients.
Actually, it is quite astonishing to realize that for so long these two issues were seen as separate entities 🤔
Thank you for reading mom❤️ I wholeheartedly agree that this concept can and should be considered in other industries as well. And I also second how ridiculous it is that we are only having this conversation now… almost like some people were benefiting off of not treating their staff well? 🤔
One of the biggest challenge hotels face is that guests want to meet other guests and have shared conversations and memories. Shared dinners with other guests and the hotel host is great, especially if there's one big table. But if there are individual tables, people sit alone. Business travelers often rough it in a hostel dorm, because the 5 Star hotel doesn't create conversational intimacy.
Interesting point Chris! I do think this is changing, as I see more and more of these community-driven concepts pop up, especially in the premium/lifestyle category. Granted many 5 star properties are still wired for privacy, but I do think luxury has this exact conundrum on their drawing tables
Thoroughly feel like i was on the oriental express with this digest. Why do legacy models always cave with the satisfaction of not embracing change. Not just hotels. You can see that in the LV womens cruise show. Out of every single artist, living in ny, to choose keith haring is just the reason why the whole thing operates on failure, and the constant gate keeping structure will result in impending doom for the buisness if it keeps up the decision to allow the middle ages to keep leading design decisions
The transformation economy is the oldest hospitality there is. Attention, quiet, a real meal, now trademarked and marked up. Bliss & Stars charges a premium to take the wifi away, and a family pensión with a home-cooked dinner and no signal did that for decades. Nobody called it an economy.
That’s true Kay, but I would also say that we have come full circle because a home-cooked meal and a bed in a place with no WiFi used to be commodities, whereas now they are not the baseline for the affluent traveler. I am a proponent of the Italian rifuggio as peak luxury!! And costs next to nothing. Thank you for your thoughts!!
We are seeing more and more hotels take a wellness approach that expands beyond getting a massage. From the fitness center programming, to meditation and more thoughtful classes on site, to locally sourced food on the menu, it’s popping up everywhere
Absolutely, and this is largely because hotels can’t afford not to do these things. The luxury consumer’s expectations are now more immersion and more specificity and more tangible results following their stay

THIS!!!! Legacy houses have this behavior in common and if they keep going like this they’ll end up irrelevant. Hope you enjoyed the ride 🚂🚂🚂

hospitality (and life) really are a reciprocal act
Namaste!!!
